Bar Grating Platforms Add Function to LA Towers

The Hole Objective
In the heart of downtown Los Angeles, CA, sits a 27-acre development project called L.A. Live. In the center are six giant steel towers which had to work with lighting, sound equipment and LED screens to convey information to patrons of the surrounding sports, entertainment and convention center. Bar Grating platforms were constructed to support the foundation for these entertainment structures.
The Hole Solution: Bar Grating Platforms
More than 100 panels of McNICHOLS® Welded Rectangular Bar Grating were used in the construction of these towers. The 80-foot pylons have multiple platforms for equipment like security cameras, speakers for entertainment and public announcements, LED screens, and lighting. The Bar Grating platforms, which had to meet load bearing and strength requirements, are safe for crews assembling equipment on them. Popular bands have even been known to perform on the towers during high profile events like the GRAMMY Awards®.
