Planners wanted Cleveland State University’s parking garage to stand out on its busy corner. But, the garage needed to remain safe for students. The challenge was finding a product that provided the aesthetics as well as the security they desired. The solution was incorporating parking garage infill panels using McNICHOLS® Wire Mesh.
Planners chose McNICHOLS® Techna 3155 Wire Mesh for the project. The double-weave pattern had the strength and desired open area for security and visibility. Additionally, it had a high-end visual appeal fitting for the first floor of the parking garage. For the upper levels, planners chose McNICHOLS® Perforated Metal with a slotted configuration.
The panels on one side of the garage were set at an angle from the building. At the top floor of the garage, the Slotted Perforated panels form a sunshade. This provides shade to students while they wait for the garage elevators.
In keeping with the University’s branding, panels along one side were powder-coated green to match the school’s colors. It also helped visitors identify the garage from far distances.
