A local builder was searching for a construction solution to solve a multitude of challenges, and McNICHOLS® Perforated Metal provided the simple solution: metal sunshades. The townhome development project in Old Scottsdale, Arizona, chose Perforated Metal for a variety of reasons.
The first challenge was searching for a way to help shade residents from the intense Arizona sunlight that would filter in from the high glass balcony windows. They also needed a way to provide privacy to occupants of the five 1,500-plus square-foot units. By utilizing McNICHOLS® Perforated Metal, the sunscreen helped diffuse heat away from the building’s face. This was a vital feature to protect the interior of the townhomes from Arizona’s extreme temperatures as well as conserve energy.
The Perforated Metal sunshades also offered a host of other attributes, such as aesthetics, security, and low maintenance. Having a high recycled content, the metal partitions and their energy-saving properties helped garner LEED points for the project too! The project earned a certification from Scottsdale's Green Building Program.
Round Hole Perforated Metal was able to provide the following benefits to this project:
