ENERGY STAR is a voluntary, government-backed program helping businesses and individuals protect the environment through superior energy efficiency.

This partnership designation represents our commitment to the ENERGY STAR program made up of over 7,000 manufacturers, retailers and builders, in the pursuit of a common goal–to protect our environment for future generations.

Energy use in commercial and industrial buildings is responsible for about 45 percent of the U.S. greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming. However, the opportunity to reduce these emissions is significant, since as much as 30 percent of the energy consumed in these buildings is often wasted. McNICHOLS participation in this program will help us reduce our buildings’ emissions through enhanced energy efficiency.

McNICHOLS is committed to measuring, tracking, and improving energy performance and is currently undergoing lighting retrofits at our service centers nationwide to reduce energy consumption, increase safety, and improve workplace conditions for our employees. This includes replacing all high-wattage vapor lights with low-wattage florescent bulbs.

Last year alone, Americans, with the help of ENERGY STAR, saved about $19 billion on their energy bills while reducing the greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to those of 29 million vehicles. Good energy management is good business. All of us have the power to make a change for the better if we work together.
